Remodeling the Bathroom: Bathroom Storage Ideas

You can never have too much storage space. Especially in a bathroom. This room holds a lot of your stuff that you need and will use on a daily basis.

If you have decided to remodel your bathroom, then it is a great time to look into the different kinds of bathroom storage ideas you can incorporate into your plans.

Most people store their bath salts, soaps and other essentials they need for a shower in a cabinet or a shelf somewhere. But wouldn’t it be nice if you had all these things closer when you were taking a bath? Well, now you can. Simply use the space around your tub. You can install tilt-out bins with doors that open to reveal all your towels, shampoo, conditioner and bath salts. It all stays out of sight until it’s time to relax with a soak in the tub.

On the other hand, if you are not a ‘bath’ person and prefer a shower, then you can consider installing kitchen-style racks on the shower wall. These racks are multi-utility storage solutions and can hold everything from your razor to your leave-in hair serum. It is better to just install a rod across the wall. This way, every time you need more storage in the shower, you can simply hang another rack on the rod.

Another great unused space is the wall between studs near a sink or tub. You can simply cut openings into the wall and install some shelves. This will give you plenty of extra space to store towels and everyday bathroom items.

Opening up space into a wall like this is excellent for a closet or cabinet too. These are the most basic storage solutions for any bathroom. Without a cabinet of some kind, you just will not have enough storage space. Sure, you can add a freestanding one later. But while you have the advantage of remodeling, it is better to install cabinets on the walls if possible so as to save floor space.

Vertical cabinets that go all the way up to the ceiling are highly recommended as they stay out of the way and provide you with loads of storage to boot.

Don’t forget to install bars and rings for towels near the sink and the bath. And if you do not have a large bathroom mirror, now is a good time to install one. Mirrors brighten up a room and make it seem bigger. While this does not provide anything in the way of storage, you can be assured that it will make the smallest room in your house feel spacious.
